How Mudras are Balancing the Five Elements of our Body?
There are many cultures around the world always provide many practical tools in understanding and addressing our health and well-being. All believe in the Universe is comprised of five elements - Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Ether or Space. These basic elements constitute our body and any imbalance in these elements is the cause of disease.
We are tasked with keeping all these elements in alignment in this Universe.
- Earth or Bhumi Tatva is related to any solid which includes skin, bone, hair, teeth and organs.
- Fire or Agni Tatva which is serving as the source of warmth. This element includes the heat from our parts of body and breath.
- Air or Pawan Tatva is considered as the highest element as it includes the breath we are taking within the body.
- Water or Jal Tatva is one of the most important elements in maintaining a balance. ll of the liquids in our bodies stem from this element.
- Ether or Aakash Tatva is unifier of the elements. It allows all the four elements to bring together and prosper.
It is thought that any imbalance in the nature can cause natural disasters from droughts to earthquakes to wildfires. Similarly, our body responds. If it misaligned can cause diseases and other ailments. For balancing one-selves, MUDRAS are recommended.
What are MUDRAS?
MUDRA is derived from Sanskrit word meaning the symbolic hand gestures mainly used for practising Yoga. According to Hindu and Buddhist ceremonies, these type of gestures are done by the whole body especially with hands and is a good gateway into formal meditation.
The Basics of Mudras:
- Earth Element includes your ring finger
- Air Element incorporates index finger
- Fire Element includes thumb
- Water Element includes pinky finger or little finger
- Ether Element incorporated with middle finger
Mudras for Increased Strength:
Join tip of the thumb and ring finger and hold for several minutes. Your other fingers should be pointing outwards. This gesture helps you in increasing physical strength.
Mudras for Balancing Emotions:
These type of mudras helps in adjusting emotions. Each finger not only responds to elements but also internal aspects of body. You have to squeeze the corresponding finger on both sides.
- For emotions related to fear and kidneys, activate your little or pinky finger.
- Issues related to anger are connected to liver, gallbladder, or central nervous system, activate ring finger.
- For dealing with impatience or the heart, small intestine, circulatory and respiratory systems, activate your middle finger.
- Issues related to depression, sadness, and grief or issues with the lungs, activate your index finger.
- Emotion of worry or anxiety or for recurring stomach issues, activate your thumb.
Hands are capable of many things apart from eating and doing physical work. You can make these hands in such a way that if you move it here, you can make something happen somewhere else and pinpoint it wherever you want it, because these hands are the instrument to everything. This is like the control panel to everything.
Either you can keep this human system as a small little human being or you can enlarge this into a tremendous possibility. Whichever way it is, the control panel is still here. If you do the right things with this system, you can do miraculous things with life. That will take a lot of exploration, and a lot of practice is involved.
